Worry Not

Your Doorstep

I shall sit by your door
Like an unworthy beggar
I shall remain at your doorstep
Forever and ever
I shall wait till your doors open
I promise to remain silent
I shall utter not a word or gesture
I shall diffuse in your presence
I am in Love!
And you are the cause!
My only desire?
A glimpse of your face
I swear this love is Divine
Must I admit and proclaim to all;
this love I speak of is earthly.

Every Great One Had a Friend

Every Great One Had a Friend

On that day I said goodbye…

I had a feeling it was our last

Yet dared not go there in mind or heart

A friend, a mentor and sister too?

All this was so real and too good to be true

I’ve never felt such a way with others who came and ran away

Now you too have turned the other way

A wish to renew this special bond

In hope I search for His magic wand!

Every great one had a friend

From Prophets to all heavenly men

My claim is such was You to me

Yet whispers tell you ‘This is mere fantasy!’

Ya Shems, Ya Rumi, Ya Shems Ya Rumi

You’ve moved on yet I still wait

To meet at least, sip and  greet;

at our well known secret retreat

I hold back my emotions with anchored reigns

To all those who cross my path and claim love with bloody stains

In them I secretly search to see your reflection

Nowhere close, their faces-a pure deception!

A thousand places or even faces

None like you in a million places

You’ve disappeared and left no traces

To give my heart and then depart

Oh the pain, the pain the pain!

My heart numb and clothes with stain

Ya Hussain, Ya Hussain, Ya Hussain

In this world where love is seasonal

Selfish, insincere and fiercely regional

How is it possible to believe me who claims she loves this very mortal?

To you I shall proclaim; that I am from Hussain

A loyalist who loves and dies in pain- for the same!

Deny it, turn the other way, ignore it and call it game

Fling me away like an unwanted moth that grows not tired or has no shame

I’ll come again to knock and knock at your heart, in hope to reclaim this very pain

I await that blessed Day where those who loved for His sake

For light’s sake, for Truth’s sake…

Shall reunite and be with those they were forced to forsake

For on that Day, true friends know not the term “Sorry Hun, this was all a mistake.”

The Knock

Knock on the Beloved’s Gate

What’s more pain

Than to knock

Know you’re heard

But no response

What’s more pain

When your love is expressed

Exchanged in all forms

Then rejected

What’s more pain

To see not thy face

Because you’ve opted to turned the other way

What’s more pain

Than to knock

Await for days and months

Yet the door opens not!

Is it over?

Or just the beginning?

Inseperable Shadow

Inseperable Shadow

A lonely traveler strolled along a shaded pathway

Suddenly thunder shattered the starry sky

Lightning struck her instantly

Fatally she gasped for air

Currents of electric waves charged her soul

Spirit revived

An angelic presence

A second life

It was you!

Another Me?

Indescribable transparency

The moment of awakening

Alighted at last

Fire lit

Love’s delight

A shaded path with no road signs

Tragic disappearance

You came and left without notice

Alone again upon this path

Despair not

Your inseparable shadow;

My eternal companion

In you is me, and me in you!

In Your Remembrance

 In Your Remembrance

My eyes well up with tears when I think of you

How you came,

Nurtured my soul then suddenly vanished

Like my spiritual father, Rumi, I’ve gone mad

Mad in love

In that Light I found in You,

Utterly confused

I ache to hear from you

To see you once again

One more time

One more glance

Every joy extinguished  upon your remembrance

Every laughter silenced

These watery eyes silently shed bitter tears

For no joy or laughter greater than with you

Where are you now?!

Where did you come from?

Why did you come?!

Had I known you not

Perhaps I’d be like the rest

A simpleton

A layman or woodcutter

My destiny; the Path of Ishq

I am Mashooq and Aashiq

That wine we sipped, set me on fire

Unable to forget this heavenly drink

I crave like a fool for yet another

This time oh Mysterious Friend;

Let me sip from your vessel

From the very place you placed your lips

The only truth I’ve learnt from this

I shall be UNITED upon my mortal demise

In love for you

I yearn for death

Thus to be with you-e t e r n a l  l  y

I Await you Return

I Await Your Return

I searched for myself

and found you

In you I see me

my face, my being and absolute reflection

Let’s gaze deeper

Longer; for moments infinity

diffuse from existence to non

Let’s discover the Divine within ourselves

This path of reflection has only one purpose,

Divine Co-existence

Turn not your face now

Everything else is mirage

Dismiss what they say

Follow your heart

I am the oasis you seek

Come immerse  your feet in this holy water

submerge with me

Our water’s alike

I await your return

My flight is destined with you my friend

Let us fly together

Let us melt in our Origin of Eternal Light!

Fly Away with Me

Fly Away With Me

I knocked and knocked

Awaited eagerly

At the peak of my dismay

You responded!

Shall I fly to prove my delight?

Watch me tonight, past midnight

Way up in the night sky

I shall be seen

Above your abode

My hand stretched out

You shall join me

We’ll fly away

To our usual place

The place we met

The place we’ll dwell

Our place of origin
